A WindForss Energy Solution can utilise all types of energy distribution systems. However, low-temperature surface heating and cooling
provides the optimal solution with increased energy performance and
less primary energy consumption.
Heating and Cooling
Low temperature heating and high-temperature cooling is the key to the integration of renewable energy sources into high-performance buildings. Heating can be incorporated into the system via ground source heat pumps. With a low-temperature radiant heating system, heat pump performance will significantly increase in comparison to traditional, high-temperature, systems and air heating. This is due to the fact that the efficiency of a heat pump depends on minimizing the temperature difference between the ground energy source and the heat pump output temperature, both in heating and in cooling modes.
In office buildings, the need for cooling is often much greater than that for heating. Radiant cooling with free cooling sources, such as natural ground water, can, for example, be achieved through the Uponor Thermally Active Building System, ceiling systems with Uponor Comfort, or traditional Uponor underfloor cooling systems. With the Uponor Thermally Active Building System, you can utilise the concrete’s thermal mass to reduce peak loads in cooling, resulting in further savings.
